So, motivated by the desire to bring the same technological advances to equestrian sports as to other sports, Seaver set itself the challenge of providing riders with health and performance monitoring tools. However, there are other connected straps or tools on the market that also wish to satisfy this need. Today, we compare Seaver 's products with those of its main competitor: Equisense.
At Seaver, the system consists of two products that can be used together to form a pack. At Equisense, these are two separate packs, and one cannot be used with the other.
If you buy CEEFIT by Seaver, you'll get locomotion data. You can then add a CEEFIT Pulse & ECG, which will provide you with data relating to your horse's heart rate.
If you choose a Motion from Equisense, you'll get the locomotion data. If you already own a Motion and want heart rate data, you'll have to buy a whole new pack: the Motion S.
Connected objects, trackers or straps are products that require investment in research and development, both financially and in terms of time, which justifies a base price of around €200.
The Seaver / Equisense comparison :
| Seaver | Equisense | |
| Locomotion analysis | CEEFIT €249 | Motion 199€ |
| Locomotion and Cardio | CEEFIT Pulse & ECG 149€ (can be combined with CEEFIT for a total of 398€) | Motion S 399€ |
There are various forums and reviews where you can obtain testimonials and opinions on data reliability.
At Seaver, scientific validation of the reliability of the heart rate has been published by two independent researchers from theUniversity of Dijon. The Fitness Shape Test, which provides information on the horse's physical condition, was developed with Véronique Billat, a French physiologist and university professor, founder and director of the Laboratory of Integrative Biology of Adaptations to Exercise.
At Equisense, the development of their tools is mentioned on their website as having been subject to validation protocols developed by their team in collaboration with their scientific committee, as well as collaboration with leading research centers.
