Recording of an ECG

A global breakthrough in horse health monitoring
What is an ECG?

The ECG (electrocardiogram) is a graphical representation of the electrical activity of the heart over time. During this test, the horse's heart rate is analyzed and detected thanks to several electrodes placed at strategic points on the cardiac belt. Such an examination helps in the early detection of various cardiac complications.

Why use an ECG?

The ECG, a tool now available for daily use, can be shared with your veterinarian for pre-diagnosis without having to leave your horse's stable. This allows you to perform accurate and cost-effective remote monitoring. In addition, the ECG is particularly useful for detecting the most common cardiac pathologies in horses, including arrhythmias and atrial fibrillation.

When to use the ECG?

The role of an ECG is to record and amplify the cardiac cycles, its interpretation allows to know the heart rate and rhythm of the horse.
Now accessible in the field, the ECG allows the veterinarian to establish a first diagnosis on the spot, but also to carry out a more precise remote follow-up between the owner of the horse and his treating veterinarian.
Moreover, the ECG is particularly useful, for example, during a purchase visit, to detect and analyze an intolerance to effort, a poor performance or even a syncope.

How do I measure an ECG?

step 1

Equip your horse with your Seaver device whose electrodes must be moistened with neutral gel.

step 2

Open the app and select the "Medical Page" tab. Start the ECG

step 3

View the ECG over the phone and share it as a PDF with your vet in one click.

Your ECG should be performed on a standstill horse in a quiet environment.

The Fitness Shape Test

Discover your horse's strength and weakness points
What is the Fitness Shape Test?

After a year of R&D and thanks to the know-how of Véronique Billat, a specialist in human physiology related to exercise, Seaver has succeeded in compiling more than thirty measurements (post-exercise recovery time, energy output, longitudinal strength, etc.) in a precise protocol, to be carried out on horseback, called the Fitness Shape Test.

The Fitness Shape Test allows you to quantify the state of fitness of your horse at the time of its realization. According to different criteria (cardio, recovery, bio-mechanics, efficiency, strength), the physical condition of your horse is represented by an overall score and by a web graph indicating its strengths and weaknesses at a specific moment. By comparison, you can see the evolution of your horse's physical condition over time and learn from the training performed to monitor the appearance of a drop in form or overtraining.

Developed in partnership with researcher Véronique Billat (specialist in human physiology related to effort, author of more than 130 research articles)

What are the 5 criteria of the test?

Measurement of cardiac responsiveness and adaptation to the horse's effort

Recovery time after exercise and intrinsic value of the horse's heart rate

Vertical and longitudinal strength developed by the horse

Ability of the horse to save itself during an effort

Regularity and movement of the horse

Assess yourself and progress

The test also gives a grade to the rider: it evaluates the concordance of your feelings according to your results. As riding is above all a sport based on sensation, Seaver seeks to refine your feelings by comparing them with an objective rating, in order to allow you to develop these capacities.
